About

Owner and Stylist Thomas Leighton:

Thomas worked with the Aveda product line for 14 years and became a Master Stylist after graduating from the Aveda Institute in New Mexico. He continually attended cutting and coloring classes through Aveda's education programs. Eventually, after mastering techniques at Aveda Institute in St. Petersburg, FL, he became an In-Salon training coach, himself, to teaches others how to cut and color. Recently Thomas completed several courses with All-Nutrients (color and cutting) as well as Intelligent Nutrients at its Minneapolis Headquarters.  April 2017, Thomas  completed a course with the American Institute of Haircolor as a Certified Color Technician with All-Nutrients hair color. Prior to his styling career, Thomas earned a degree in small business management from the University of Maine at Machias, which he put to use for several years managing the successful Matthew John Salon. As one of the Owners or Parlour Salon for 5 years in Portland, Thomas was one of the first stylists to bring Organic/ All Natural salons to the Portland area. Now, he’s ready to take the next step and bring Organic/ All Natural and LOCAL products to the Knightville neighborhood of South Portland with his new salon Chair which opened in October of 2019.

Stylist Jennifer Jaye Leigh :

Having done hair starting in the 80s, I have seen it all. While I love big hair, I also love a swingy bob or a pixie cut. I love natural looking highlights, a brilliant red, or some violet or rose toned hair. I specialize in curls and love to help clients find beauty in themselves.

Today, I strive to help people find styles that work with their hair’s texture and with their lifestyle. I truly love finding a style that suits a person’s personality and that they can maintain with relative ease.

Stylist Miranda Thompson:

Miranda attended cosmetology school at Capilo Institute in Augusta Maine before starting her 6 year career working for and training with Aveda. While working with Aveda she was able to attend countless advanced cutting and coloring classes. For the past 12 years, she has been self-employed and working at Satori Salon in Portland, ME where she trained with Goldwell USA and continues to use the Goldwell Topchic color line today. She made the leap over the bridge to South Portland to work at Chair in June of 2020 and will continue her hairstyling career, part-time, while she attends Nursing School at SMCC.

Stylist Emily Wester:

Emily is originally from Philadelphia, PA. She has been doing hair since 2008 in Philly, Boston, Burlington and Portland. Emily specializes in vivid colors, lightening services and color corrections. She not only loves continuing education but has also been a salon educator for junior stylists as well, sharing her knowledge with her salon teammates. She is excited to now be using the All-Nutrient hair color line. She uses her knowledge in baylayage, foiling and baby lights to achieve the exact blonding that her clients desire. She does enjoy a challenge and will be happy to get you exactly the color you want.

Stylist Caroline Mitgang:

Caroline has been doing hair since 2008, spending the first 9 years of her career in NYC, followed by 6 years in Los Angeles. She has always prioritized reliably gorgeous, expert haircare, and deeply values the long-term caring, symbiotic relationship she forges with her clients.

She has extensive education with Redken, L’Oreal, and Aveda and continuing ed to stay up on cutting techniques and trends. She is very excited to be using All-Nutrient color as it has always been important to her to be as health- and environmentally-conscious as possible.

When you sit down in her chair she can deliver classic cuts and color, or whatever wild style you got served by the Instagram algorithm, always taking into account your lifestyle, and realistic self-styling and maintenance limits. She wants to hear about your pets, and hopefully you want to hear her tv, podcast, and movie recommendations, cause…you’re gonna.
